I have enjoyed the comments on womens' self-reflective voices. I think
that the journals and diaries of women have paved the way to a greater
acceptance of viewing his/herstory from the point of view of daily
experience. Reaction papers, so popular in womens' studies classes,
is an other genre that has broadened the nature of learning/teaching and
understanding. I just read two reviews of the diaries of Klemperer (the
reviews are at home, I may recall his name incorrectly) documenting daily
life in Nazi Germany. I think the impact of his work is greater due to
feminist scholarship that has validated this mode of writing, its
importance
in understanding both the person, and his/her historical period,
Vera
