One slight addition to the notes about Gerry Coles' book. The correct
publication info is as follows:
Reading Lessons: The
Debate Over Literacy is published by Hill & Wang, a div. of Farrar, Straus
& Giroux, not Erlbaum, and is now in print.
As Ken suggested, it's worth a read.
