jay,
do you think that just becasue we can/do/should/might view
people as mere objects, or another part of the class of objects,
that we cannot then also take into account their feelings and
emotions (as functions or results of being objects)? This cross-
over does not seem foreign to me, as I think of how children give
the attributes of emotions to inanimate objects, especially
as part of their narratives of identity regarding possession--
i.e.., "This toy doesn't like you," or "this toy looks lonely."
What I am getting at is that I think we can take into account
people's emotions and still see them part of the world.
