Okay, I know that most of you cannot come, but, hey, if you are in
Pittsburgh and want to drop by for any or all, please feel free. We are
trying this as an experiment and I hope I get a decent turnout, so dont
worry about being welcome :-)

in the School of Education at
Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA
announces a unique learning opportunity
for Spring, 1998:

A Lecture Series entitled

"The Spirit of Qualitative Research"

by Dr. Gary Shank

The lecture series will address the critical issue of how a qualitative
researcher needs to be in the world. Once this issue is addressed, then
concerns of methods will follow quite easily.
Any member of the University community is welcome at any or all of the
seven lectures in the series. For graduate students who are interested,
independent study credit is available. All lectures are scheduled on
Wednesdays (see dates below) and will start at 3:00 PM. Each lecture will
last approximately 75 minutes, with a 45 minute discussion session
following each lecture.

Lecture # 3: Flexibility and Control in Qualitative Research 11 February

Lecture # 4: Stalking Significant Findings in Qualitative Research 25 Feb

Lecture # 5: Authenticity in Qualitative Research 18 March 1998

Lecture # 6: Qualitative Research and the "Other" 1 April 1998

Lecture # 7: Commitment and Qualitative Research 22 April 1998

All lectures are scheduled from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in Canevin Hall 108.
