I think we have reached in this discussion a point when a joint workshop
would be very useful. It seems a little late to do this at the 1988 AERA,
but I see a lot of possibility with productive interaction, where people
might bring their data and help each other to find new ways to maximize
cross-study triangulation. It reminds me of the great service that the
mcArthus networks have provided for child language researchers by making
data accessible across sites. I am not suggesting a similarly highly
organized effort (also expensively funded) but a move in the direction of
shared data basis and methods of analysis.
Perhaps we could have a brown bag during AERA to explore this possibility
further,
