theory is everywhere

Martin's question about theory is an important one, a moment to re-distribute
theory, perhaps, as something more "out there" than
only "in here" in the university...

perhaps theory is too much "claimed" by the academic community; and not enough
of its fluidity is 'given up' when we write about what we do, or want to do, or

wish we had done, or might have done, or ought to have done... theory
describes practice: reflectively, so.

theory is good. theory is thinking. it's ideas. everyone has ideas.
everyone has theories.
only some of us get paid to read and write about theories: but this ought not

diminish the value of theory if anything, by golly, it ought to raise theory
to a different level of appreciation... or am I just a snob trying to
rationalize my snobbiness?

Italian Marxist, Antonio Gramsci is helpful here, perhaps? That is only
from the margins that the marginalized can critique society's organizations
and systems of domination? Doesn't this re-locate theory as everywhere?,

I just never know for sure ;-)
