it is such a groping to find the most appropriate words: I think that is
why I write so much, each message an attempt to shape my own learning -- I
was trying to get hold of the idea that imagination _develops_ when
employed in the practice of research (or any other social practice). So I
am encouraging myself to use it, but also reminding myself to keep it in
check.
Actually, I think it is one of the recurring themes of our discussions, how
"the wild and the beautiful" contributes something important to the most
serious of activities...
