Edouard and Louise--
As I understand it, the cultural-historical paradigm does a
pretty good job of understanding human development in our mediated
world. This is not to say that the cultural-historical psychologists
for the 20's-30's are a reliable source of current paleontological
evidence. As Jim Wertsch, myself, and others ahve pointed out, they
subscribed to the "two point" theory subscribed to anthropologists
like Kroeber (I mean't "critical point theory"), which is an error
at all levels of developmental change.
What changes in current dominant theories of human evolution
need re-writing in light of what current evidence? To what effect
in understanding current human development around the world and in
classrooms with computers? :-)
