Tiny retort - accepting the risks of bridge-building.

Hi again everyone,

Well, women are allowed their prerogative . . . us fellows ought to be
allowed a second thought! I do think we need to keep the discussion open
enough to at least try some mushing of ideas and see how they stand on
their own. Sure, life would be much better if Vygotsky and Piaget been
nice enough to straighten out their differences, or Heidegger and Sartre,
or even Foucault and Bourdieu. If we limit ourselves strictly to what
the literature has produced, guess what: activity theory is activity
theory, social practice theory is social practice theory and never the
twain shall meet.

So okay, I'll pull myself out of the bridge building business as I have
bigger fish to fry. On the other hand, I want to strongly encourage
other "fence straddlers" to try their luck. Okay, maybe I lost the
flavor of activity theory when I tried to lug it over into an existential
framework. Let's have somebody try it the other way. At least, let's
make sure that xmca is always an okay place to take such risks.

Peace, Love, and Friendship,

Edouard
