Thanks very much Jay for articulating what I'v been struggling with so
much in my heart but lack the time and energy (and theoretical language)
to articulate. These struggles are very real to me as I can see that
something along the lines (which I witness in Hong Kong) is gradually
happening and spreading in major cities in China. I must say, whatever
negative things one might say about communist China, the situation of
women had been radically changed since the communist revolution in 1949;
but now with the import of capitalism and commercial culture, the subtle
forms of sex-ploitation of women is coming back; if I can do a good job
documenting what's happening in Hong Kong as a prediction of what's going
to happen on a much much larger scale in China, it might be of some help
to those who are concerned with the situation of hundreds of millions of
women in China now and in the very near future.
