Are your analyses of kids' use of functional grammar available?

Judy, Thanks for your interest. I thought I would send a response to the
discussion group in case anybody else is interested in this question.

There is paper on the first phase of the project in a 1995 conference
collection published by the Macquarie Dictionary Centre, Macquarie University,
North Ryde 2113. Aus. The paper is called: Learning systemic functional
grammar in primary schools. (I will send Judy a copy by snail mail since the
graphs etc don't seem to survive the net for some reason.)

There is a longer paper on learning and uses of functional grammar in a
critical literacy context, which is just about complete. We have been taking
some time to look at classroom discourse transcript and video data closely,
since one of the (many) problems with research on grammar learning in
education has been a lack of processual evidence, and of detailed descriptions
of the contexts of development/use, which seem to us to be crucial.
