I'm dreaming about teaching and learning without this machine of treats and
fears constantly hovering over students' (and teacher's) heads. Jay, can
you elaborate on materiality of pain hidden in symbolic institutional
treats, please (I remember you made interesting points in your book, Textual
politics)?
