Angel,

Common sense is not common for me in two senses:
1. whatever sense it is it isn't held in common by everyone, and
2. the notion seems odd, in these postmodern times.

I also agree that simulations can be extremely useful ways to
sensitize people at least a bit to the culturally different
experience. Do you know the simulation game Baffa Baffa? I'm not
sure who publishes it, but it does a pretty good job of staging
an encounter with a foreign culture. Perhaps ESL xmca'ers know
of simulation games specific to L2 learning.
