as in last year I am glad to inform you about the forthcoming
conference on Developmental Pedagogy in Krasnoyarsk. The previous
conference was very successful and this one brings together many
active researchers and practicioners who work in the Vygotsky's
tradition. The papers presented at the poster session of the last
conference by M. Cole, J. Haenen and K. Egan were of interest for
the participants. So, I invite you to send your papers even if
you will not have a possibility to come personally.

Third Conference on DEVELOPMENTAL PEDAGOGY: MODERN CHILDHOOD AND
MISSION OF SCHOOl is to be held in Krasnoyarsk on April 26-28,
1996 by Krasnoyarsk State University, Krasnoyarsk Territorial
Department for Education, Institute of Psychology of the Russian
Academy of Education, Institute of Experimental Pedagogy of
Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Education, Krasnoyarsk
Experimental School "Univers".
The purpose of the conference is to discuss the research and
implementation issues, as well as the prospects of educational
practices, based on the ideas of cultural-historical psychology
with respect to phenomena of modern society in the historical
perspective of childhood.
Experts in the field of education, psychology and sociology are
invited to participate in the conference. The effects of syllabi
implementation are to be discussed as regards to their
correlation with the reality of modern society and the process of
child maturing, and to develop concepts of modern childhood and
adulthood.
Suggested topics for discussion:
- effects of developmental pedagogy;
- syllabi and specific features of age dynamics;
- structure of "educational space" and specific features of
critical and stable age periods;
- problems of age-specific child and adult interactions;
- transition stages in schooling.
