Has anyone else noticed the pattern that this kind of reflexive
concern for the "health" or conduct of lists occurs across the board,
in waves? At least a third of the lists I monitor have had issues
like this raised (either there are too many personal notes or
someone is using language that silences or marginalizes someone else,
or there's too much spam and the list should be closed) in the last
three weeks or so. Maybe it's got to do with the rhythm of the
academic year: I wonder if Francoise Herrmann or Peg Syverson, who've
studied these things, have noticed this pattern?
