Eva,

I just said three years because that's what Vygotsky says at that
point. some times, the way he writes, I think he says that symbolic
play would be possible at two years (definitely somewhere between
two and three). Piaget surely would say two years. But these,
like all age groupings, are just very general markers. It seems
probable that some children could engage in symbolic play as early
as eighteen months.
