There are a couple of other references relating to resistance and culture,
that are worth looking into in relation to youth cultures:

Giroux, H.A. (1983). Theories of reproduction and resistance in the new
sociology of education: A critical analysis. _Harvard Educational Review_,
53, 257-295. There is a good review of "economic-reproductive" theories of
resistance and education, in which he places the work of Willis, McRobbie,
and others that have been cited thus far. He also reviews Bordieu and
proposes his own definition of resistance, in which he warns against taking
the view that all "oppositional" acts are resistance. Tom Shaw's article in
_Ethos_ ("The semiotic mediation of identity",1994, pp.83-119) also deals
with these types of issues.

de Certeau, M. (1984). _The practice of everyday life_. Berkeley: U of
California P. This text takes I think a somewhat "contrary" view of
resistance, in that de Certeau invites researchers to examine how unwitting
resistance is a part of nearly every human activity, even when participants
believe they are reproducing faithfully a particular practice. Perhaps some
of which is described as "youth culture" falls into this category of
resistance.
