Chuck and fellow XMCA-ers. I would be interested in citations for research
studies that make use of a mix of theories to better represent the
complexities of social practices while accounting for lived experience.
In a recent post, I referred to Paul Farmer's work
(_AIDS & Accusation_ - a sociohistorically situated critical ethnographic
study of the AIDS epidemic in Haiti). It's exemplary for me of a committed,
critical approach to research: it explores lived experiences at different
time depths (particular situations; more extended histories) and moves
beyond the lived reality to examine its sociohistorical conditions --
even beyond Haiti, to how the country has been situated internationally.
What work comes to mind for you?
