Hi Ken, Yes I would agree that many religious and ritualistic
language uses are agentive in that they are disconnected with the
here and now, invoke little or no inter-action and conceal their
history and purpose, but these to me are still communicative.
Perhaps that communicative is too coarse a catergory and that one
needs to functionalize it. James Britton (I think I remember)
separated the term into several functions.
