PURPOSES
This meeting is to formulate plans, teams and fund-raising strategies
for following GLOSAS/CAADE projects;

A. GLOSAS/ROSTER project;
To develop World Wide Web home pages of GLOSAS/CAADE pro-
jects -- a basis of databases for course offerings in the
future.
B. CAADE delivery technologies;
To test/demonstrate the uses of ShareVision via INMARSAT,
FORUM, KarlNet, BeingThere, CU-SeeMe, etc.
C. Teacher training of K-12 in the U.S. rural areas;
To test/apply CAADE delivery technologies for Science,
Mathematics, Engineering and Technology (SMET) teacher
training of K-12 schools in Appalachian Regions and Navajo
in the U.S. -- grant application for NSF/NIE.
D. Electronic distance education in the U.S.;
To test/apply CAADE delivery technologies for higher educa-
tion in the U.S. -- grant application for TIIAP.
E. "Global Lecture Hall (GLH)" (TM) videoconference for Hungarian
Fulbright Commission in August, 1996;
To demonstrate CAADE delivery technologies for worldwide
audiences, in cooperation with Brazilian and Egyptian col-
leagues.
F. Helsinki conference;
To formulate plans, teams and fund-raising strategies for
testing/applying CAADE delivery technologies for less devel-
oped countries with pilot projects -- later to institution-
alize the Global University system.

This meeting will also describe CAADE activities and demonstrate its
proposed technologies. CAADE emphasizes the use of Internet.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This strategy setting should be attended by U.S. government officials,
diplomats, representatives of funding sources, decision-makers on distance
education and its practitioners of profit- and no-profit organizations, etc.

1st Day, 3 January:

* Presentation of Virtual City and GLOSAS/ROSTER on CD-ROM and WWW
by Dr. Andrey S. Narvsky of St.Petersburg University of Ocean
Technology (tentative),
* Audio conference with colleagues in Portugal, Brazil, Paris, etc.
on (tentative),
(1) writing grant application to InfoDev of the World Bank on
GLH in August, '96, for;
(a) demonstration of CATARINA with ShareVision from SENAI
in Florianopolis,
(b) demonstration of CU-SeeMe (preferably in color) with a
wireless laptop,
(c) demonstration of Egyptology (tentative) with ShareVi-
sion from Cairo, Egypt,
(2) project of creating a model city for wireless distance
education in Florianopolis, Brazil,
(3) fund raising from Japanese government for the Item (2)
above, etc.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS
(1) Sheraton University City Hotel (phone - (215) 387-8000): $99.00 plus
tax (University Rate). The Sheraton University City is located at 36th &
Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia, one and one half blocks from UCSC Headquar-
ters. Garage parking for guests costs $10.00 per day.
(2) Divine Tracy Hotel (phone - (215) 382-4310): $33.00 to $40.00 plus tax.
The Divine Tracy Hotel is located at 20 South 36th Street in Philadelphia, one
block from UCSC Headquarters. The hotel, which is operated by a religious
organization, is clean and comfortable. Guests are expected to observe a
strict dress and behavior code. There are no telephones in the rooms, but
there are telephones in the lobby. The front desk will receive messages for
guests. NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED.

DEADLINE OF REGISTRATION
We anticipate three to four dozen attendees (room capacity: 35 to 50)
for intensive discussions. Please send your filled registration form to
GLOSAS/USA at your earliest convenience for first-come first-serve basis. The
deadline of this registration is December 20, 1995. No cancellation after
registration, but replacement is accepted.
