People interested in an Australian articulation of the problem of
dialoguing across paradigms might find the journal Social Semiotics: a
transdisciplinary journal in functional linguistics, semiotics and
critical theory interesting. Order from David Birch, Dept of
Communication and Media Studies, Central Queensland University,
Rockhampton QLD 4702, Australia. This journal was born out of dialogue
between systemic functional linguistics and cultural studies in an around
issues of literacy and gender, with special reference to English language
education, both mother tongue and esl.
