(1) Another big vote for EndNote Plus. It saves me weeks each year, and
with already over 500 entries, it helps me find things: e.g., "What was that
article applying Dewey's theory to race car driving?" No more will I
walk around for days with a missing article nagging the back of my brain...

(2) I use ACT! to keep track of correspondence, phone numbers, email,
etc. It's called a "contact manager" and there are many products like
this, designed for salespeople to keep track of their customers.

(3) I am a strong advocate of using a relational database for transcripts
and coding databases. I use Microsoft Access. The reason it's so great
is that it has a version of Basic built in, which allows you to slice and
dice your data a zillion ways with relatively little effort. Send me a
note if you want more info.
