Don, that's a good question. I suppose a painter would say yes.
What I question in this case is whether the writing *necessarily*
promotes reflection--or whether it's just another academic
requirement (the viewpoint of the student in this case). Tim
Lensmire and others posed some questions a week or so back
about tools--I'd say that writing is *potentially* a tool but
not necessarily. I develop this idea in the RER article from
this month. I'd work on it now but gotta run out to visit a
classroom.
