Hi Antti,

Thank you for this. Would you or people from SIG be able to participate as chair/discussant?

Nacho

Hi Nacho

Your proposal seems to be well within the scope of the chat sig.

Best Antti

Hi Simangele and David,

At this moment, we are three people involved to prepare a proposal for Symposium: Lara, another colleague from Chile (Enrique Riquelme) and me. I think we can add both of your ideas. Diversity of issues and perspectives more or less “central” to CHAT or to emotion does not constitute a problem from my view.

Within a format of Symposium, what we need is a brief abstract of 120 words and an extended summary of 500 for each paper. It would be great if we get a first version of all of this stuff by the end of this week.

Antti and Mike,

I’m not expert in AERA’s modus operandi. The call for submissions establish that a Symposium can be sent as a proposal for a SIG or for a Section. Do you think that the proposal we are preparing would be fit the CHAT SIG? The title can be more accurate: “Emotional education as another tool for equity: A CHAT perspective”.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

My best,

Nacho

Hi Nacho and Lara

Nacho thank you for coming up with the idea of this symposium. I like the topic “Emotional education as another tool for equity: A socio-cultural perspective” as my observation emotional development is a highly neglected aspect of education in my context.

I am interested in developing my understanding of trauma from a CHAT perspective. I have struggling with this too.

I know that Vygotsky has a chapter dedicated on children’s emotional experiences. I read it a while ago, I will revisit it in preparation to have a sensible presentation.

Like you I appeal for assistance with resources

Regards

Simangele

Hi Nacho.

I’ve been struggling with a paper on addressing trauma from a CHAT perspective if you want to put together a symposium focused on emotion.

Best,

Lara

Hi Mike,

My idea was simple: I have a Poster that couldn’t present at Jean Piaget Society and I wish to present at the AERA Annual Meeting. In addition, I presented a paper on Vygotsky and Emotion at the ISCAR ibérico. I was thinking to send the two proposals in an individual way.

But if other people are interested, we can try to organize a Symposium with a more general perspective. For example: “Sociocultural approaches to emotional education”. Or more accurate with the main issue for the Conference: “Emotional education as another tool for equity: A socio-cultural perspective”.

We have twenty four days… A lot of time, from my perspective!

Anyone interested?

Nacho

Hey Nacho!

I haven't even looked at the call. Will there be mixed zoom/in person meetings?

If so, suggest a topic!

__________

They have always known, they have known for ten thousand years, that to lock a human being into solitary confinement can make a madman of him or an animal. They have always known that a poor man is frightened of the police and his landlord is a slave. They have always known that frightened people are cruel. They have always known that violence breeds violence. And we know it. But do the great masses of the world know it? No. It is our job to tell them. Because great men can’t be bothered. Their imaginations are already occupied with how to colonize Venus; they are already creating in the minds visions of a society full of free and noble human beings.
