Andy, in Gothenburg they have used it together with Vygotskian theory in
school contexts.

Check the work of Annika Lantz-Andersson, e.g., this one:

Lantz-Andersson, A., Linderoth, J., & Säljö, R. (2009). What’s the problem?
Meaning making and learning to do mathematical word problems in the context
of digital tools. *Instructional Science*, *37*(4), 325-343.

Maybe the context is different? Also, Jim Greeno uses similar ideas without
reference to Goffman.

Best, Antti
